Description

Etna Rosso Martinella from Azienda Vivera is a red wine produced in the Martinella vineyard, on the north-eastern slope of Etna, from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. The vines grow at around 600 meters above sea level on volcanic soils rich in stones, in a mountainous setting marked by cool summers and significant diurnal temperature swings.

The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo fermentation and maceration at controlled temperatures. The wine ages for a long time in used French oak barriques (multiple fills) and in French and Caucasian tonneaux, developing structure, depth and complexity without losing elegance.

In the glass it shows a pale ruby red color. On the nose it offers aromas of rose petals, currant and cherry, accompanied by notes of dark chocolate and forest floor, while on the palate it features silky tannins, vibrant freshness and a very long finish.

It pairs with tuna tartare, fish soups, tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and lentils with guanciale.
