Description
What kind of wine it is
The Asti by Fontanafredda is a sweet sparkling wine made exclusively from Moscato grapes. This Piedmontese expression stands out for its well-defined aromatic profile and a pleasant freshness that preserves the variety’s typical aromas. Careful vinification delivers an immediate style, characterized by a balanced sweetness that envelops the palate harmoniously.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from vineyards located on highly vocated slopes in the municipalities of Calosso d’Asti, Santo Stefano Belbo, Treiso, Serralunga d’Alba, and Alba. The soils mainly consist of clay marl, a fundamental matrix for supporting the aromatic expressiveness of the variety and giving structure to the sip. The meticulous selection of cultivation areas places the origin in the hills historically best suited to its production.
How it is produced
Harvest takes place during the first ten days of September to ensure the grapes reach optimal ripeness. The process continues in the cellar with a gentle pressing and low-temperature fermentation, an essential technique for preserving varietal aromas. The subsequent secondary fermentation follows the Charmat Method, which maintains olfactory clarity and gives the wine a marked harmonious sweetness.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a delicate light straw yellow color that anticipates a tasting experience focused on freshness and pleasure. On the nose, the primary aromas of the grape emerge, with intense floral hints of acacia, hawthorn, linden, and orange blossom, intertwined with pleasant notes of honey and moss. On the palate, it is sweet and harmonious, offering a coherent gustatory progression that closes in a pleasant balance.
Food pairings
This sparkling wine pairs effortlessly with fresh fruit and enhances simple and fragrant dishes thanks to its pronounced floral character. It is the ideal accompaniment for Christmas leavened desserts, as it elevates the classic flavors of panettone and pandoro in a delightful taste contrast. It equally matches well with spoon desserts based on cream and custard, ensuring a satisfying tasting experience without weighing down the palate.
When to serve it
It is the perfect choice to finish a meal and for all those occasions that require a pairing with a clear aromatic profile. Its versatility makes it a reference for winter celebrations, but it is appreciated at any time of year alongside the most delicate desserts. To fully enjoy its varietal fragrance, it is best served well-chilled to highlight the floral component and its embracing character.
