Description
What kind of wine is it?
Franciacorta Extra Brut Ferghettina is a Franciacorta made in Lombardy from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero. The style is dry and well-defined, with a delicate yet persistent taste profile designed to highlight balance and precision. The sparkling process follows the Traditional Method, thanks to a second fermentation in the bottle and lengthy aging on the lees, resulting in a more complex and precise texture.
Where does it come from?
The grapes come from the hills of Franciacorta, from vineyards situated about 250 meters above sea level. The soils are calcareous-clayey, a context that promotes regular ripening and supports a smoothly structured palate. These plots yield base wines suitable for extended aging on the lees, preserving consistency and definition.
How is it produced?
Harvesting takes place by hand in mid-August. Vinification proceeds separately for each vineyard: after gentle pressing, only the free-run must is used, which ferments in stainless steel tanks at 16–18°C. After blending the cuvée, secondary fermentation begins in the bottle, followed by aging 72 months on the lees, a stage that cements finesse and continuity on the palate.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a deep golden yellow. The nose reveals notes of almond and vanilla, with hints of candied fruit. On the palate, it is delicate and persistent, with a well-centered balance and a dry, clean finish, true to its Extra Brut style.
Food pairings
It is ideal as an aperitif for those seeking a Franciacorta with a crisp, dry profile. At the table, it goes well with soups and seafood dishes, thanks to its persistence and precise finish. It is therefore well-suited for seafood courses where freshness and linearity help maintain harmony.
When to serve it
It is best enjoyed chilled, in a convivial setting ranging from aperitif to a seafood meal. The extended 72-month lees aging makes it already harmonious, with sustained flavor and persistence that complements food pairings. Careful serving allows its aromatic precision and Extra Brut balance to shine through.
