Description
What kind of wine it is
The Grechetto di Todi is a white wine from the winery Terra, made entirely from Grechetto grapes. It shows a straw yellow color and a delicate aromatic profile, designed for those seeking a fresh and approachable white. Its style reflects the vocation of its home terroir for this variety. It is a versatile wine, suited both as an aperitif and alongside light dishes.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from a vineyard of about five hectares located in the area of Todi, in Umbria, at an altitude of about three hundred meters above sea level. The soil, predominantly clay with some silt, and the south-facing exposure favor regular ripening of the grapes. The vines, trained to classic Guyot, are between twelve and fifteen years old. This pedoclimatic context gives the wine its territorial identity.
How it is made
Harvest usually takes place in mid-September, depending on the season. The Grechetto grapes, after destemming, undergo gentle pressing followed by cold static settling to obtain a clear must. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel, to preserve the clarity of the varietal aromas. This is followed by three to four months of maturation in steel and a further six months of bottle ageing, before bottling between March and April.
Tasting notes
On sight the wine shows a straw yellow color with green highlights. On the nose the bouquet is delicate and floral, with hints of white fruit. On the palate it stands out for its freshness and softness, with good persistence that confirms its overall balance. The finish is clean and consistent with the aromatic profile.
Food pairings
This wine is ideal as an aperitif, accompanied by mixed crostini and cured meats. It also pairs well with first courses with delicate flavors and with preparations based on white meats. It finds a good match with fish and with fresh or semi-aged cheeses, which enhance its freshness. A versatile choice for light, convivial meals.
When to serve it
It works well as an aperitif or to accompany an entire meal on lighter, convivial occasions. A cool serving temperature enhances its delicate aromatic component. A suitable choice both for everyday enjoyment and for more polished social moments.
