Description
What kind of wine it is
Château Rauzan-Segla is a red wine from the Margaux appellation, recognized as a 2ème Cru Classé. Vinification in stainless steel vats of various capacities allows the individual plots to be expressed at their best. Maturation in French oak barrels gives the structure a defined profile, making it well-suited for aging.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the Margaux area, closely linked to the historic Château Rauzan-Segla. The estate, once owned by the Rauzan family and later acquired by the Wertheimers, has a deep connection to its vineyards. The estate's identity is expressed through the separate vinification of its plots, a fundamental practice that preserves the character of the soils and the final style of the wine.
How it is produced
After harvest, the grapes ferment in stainless steel vats of various sizes to individually work the different plots. Once malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine matures for an extended period in French oak barrels, with the proportion of new oak varying according to the characteristics of the vintage.
Tasting notes
The colour is an intense purple red. On the nose, there are clear notes of stewed fruit like cherries and blackberries, enriched by delicate hints of cinnamon and clove. On the palate, it is persistent and enveloping, supported by fine tannins and excellent freshness that leads to a long, persistent finish.
Pairings
This red perfectly accompanies well-structured meat dishes, able to match its tannic texture. Pairing it with a richly flavoured roast beef creates perfect harmony. Another excellent option is oven-roasted duck, where the wine's spicy notes interact with the roasted flavours and balance the sweetness of red onions.
When to serve it
Ideal for special occasions, it requires a well-considered service. It is recommended to decant the wine for about three hours to allow the aromas to fully open up. Thanks to its dense tannic structure and use of oak, this label has a remarkable potential for aging, ensuring a consistent and well-defined evolution over time.
