Description
What kind of wine is it
The Morellino di Scansano Lohsa by Poliziano is a red wine made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, with the addition of Ciliegiolo.
Where it comes from
The wine comes from vineyards at 100 meters above sea level, with a south/southwest exposure, not far from the sea. The soils, composed of galestro and sandstone and rich in stones, impart to the wine the typical character of the Morellino di Scansano appellation.
How it is made
The grapes are harvested by hand. The must ferments in stainless steel for 15–20 days with skin maceration. The wine ages partly in wooden casks and partly in stainless-steel tanks before bottling.
Tasting notes
In the glass it shows an intense ruby red color. The nose is dominated by aromas of cherry, sour cherry, violet, thyme, and vanilla. The palate is warm, enjoyable, and harmonious, with great appeal and length.
Food pairings
Pairs well with hearty first courses and cheeses, and is ideal with grilled red meats.
When to serve it
Serve at 16–18°C. A versatile wine, suited to both casual lunches and dinners featuring grilled meat dishes.
