Description
The Chardonnay A26 by Antinori comes from the vineyards of the Atlas Peak District, within Napa Valley, selected for the intensity and distinctiveness of the fruit due to the combination of clones and the high altitude. The vines grow on volcanic origin soils of the Perkins Gravelly Loam series at an average altitude of 1,475 feet, conditions that favor elegant aromas and a natural freshness in the wine.
The winemaking involves harvesting the grapes in the cool morning hours, followed by gentle pressing and static decantation of the must at low temperatures. The wine ferments in new Remond and Le Grand French oak barrels, where it ages for seven months. A part of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation to enrich the structure, while the other is left intact to preserve freshness.
In the glass, it stands out for its refined notes of white peach, Meyer lemon, and marzipan. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with a perfect balance between acidity and roundness, offering freshness, energy, and a long, persistent finish with hints of honeysuckle, cream, stone fruit, and light spices.
It pairs beautifully with dishes based on shellfish or lightly spiced white meats.
