Description

The Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia comes to light in the suggestive panorama of Bolgheri, in one of the most suitable areas of Tuscany. It can be considered the "second wine" of the estate, receiving the same attention and attention to detail given to the Ornellaia.

It is the result of a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes, whose harvest takes place manually in boxes, separated, variety by variety, between the end of August and the first half of October, once the perfect ripeness has been reached also from the phenolic point of view. A soft pressing follows a separate vinification of the grapes, in steel vats, at a controlled temperature between 26 and 30 ° C and maceration on the skins for 10-15 days. Once the malolactic fermentation is over, which is carried out partly in steel and partly in barriques, the wine remains in barriques for about 15 months. Before marketing there is a further period of refinement in the bottle.

Upon visual inspection Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is young and intense red in color. Intense aromas of ripe red fruit creep in the nose, accompanied by refined spicy and toasted notes. The taste is round and velvety, with a great personality completed by a rich and persistent, balanced finish, enriched with light balsamic hints.

It goes well with important red meat dishes. It also does not mind game dishes and medium-long aged cheeses.
