Description
This Salento Negroamaro is produced from one of the most representative native grape varieties of the Salento peninsula, for which Masseria Ficarigna is a spokesperson. Inspired by the symbolic fruit of the prickly pear, the label features a stylized image of a "pica," the Salento magpie, one of the birds that contributes to the seed dispersal and spread of this plant in the region.
The grapes are carefully harvested by the winery's team and immediately transported to the winery where a gentle pressing and fermentation with maceration takes place in steel tanks for 15 days. The wine finishes its aging with a passage in barriques for 8-10 months.
It is a red wine that reveals itself with a ruby hue. The nose is deep and orchestrated on rich notes of red berries. On the palate, it is intense, smooth, and balanced.
Excellent to pair with Mediterranean cuisine's first courses, as well as with cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
