Description
What kind of wine it is
Nuhar by Tenuta Rapitalà is an enveloping red wine from Sicily, crafted from a blend of grapes Nero d’Avola and Pinot Nero. The varieties are vinified separately with prolonged maceration and are combined only after targeted ageing. The style is warm and structured, supported by balanced tannins and precise flavors. The finish highlights the characteristic imprint of Pinot Nero and offers a long, clean, and very persistent finish.
Where it comes from
Nuhar is born in the selected vineyards of Tenuta Rapitalà, located in the province of Palermo at about six hundred meters above sea level. This hilly position is a key factor for the wine’s origin, as it gives the overall profile distinct finesse and balance. The island’s terroir is expressed through careful viticulture and the climatic features of the area, resulting in a red wine with an integrated tannic structure.
How it is made
The Nero d’Avola and Pinot Nero grapes are harvested between the autumn and late October. The fermentation in steel occurs in small containers, with an extended maceration on the skins. The nine-month maturation is differentiated: Pinot Nero ages in oak barriques, while Nero d’Avola matures in steel tanks. The two wines are then blended for the final assemblage and complete their journey with a refinement in glass before being served.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it reveals a lively and very clear ruby red color. The nose opens with delicate aromas of dried fruit and notes of preserved fruit, highlighting remarkable elegance. On the palate it is full, warm, and well-proportioned, supported by balanced tannins that sustain the entire mouthfeel. The finish recalls the characteristics of Pinot Nero and gives a long persistence with fascinating clean and continuous aromatic returns.
Pairings
Its solid structure makes it ideal to accompany game dishes or flavorful roasted meats. At the table, it pairs easily with recipes with bold profiles, where the warmth and balanced tannins best support the most intense flavors. It is an excellent companion for truffle-based dishes, such as a classic plate of tagliatelle. It is also highly consistent with regional main courses and, for example, enhances a roast lamb thanks to its texture.
When to serve it
Nuhar is the recommended choice for convivial moments where important and well-structured menus are featured. Bottle ageing refines its profile and offers a satisfying, warm, and intensely aromatic sip. It's a perfect bottle for those seeking a harmonious wine with a marked personality. Best enjoyed in the medium term, when its structural balance and olfactory elegance reach their peak.
