Description
Tramin's Lagrein is a red wine made from the indigenous Lagrein grape of Alto Adige, cultivated in the hilly areas between 250 and 400 meters above sea level. The vineyards are set on calcareous soils with clay, gravel, and sand components, characterized by strong temperature variations between warm days and cool nights from the mountains—ideal conditions for preserving aromatic freshness and balance.
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and placed in small containers to ensure integrity. After destemming, they ferment at controlled temperatures in small steel and cement vats, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. The wine then matures for several months in both oak barrels of varying sizes and in cement vats, refining structure and complexity.
In the glass it has an intense red color with garnet reflections. The bouquet is broad and complex, evoking ripe red fruits, especially cherry and raspberry, accompanied by delicate herbal nuances and notes of cocoa and licorice. On the palate, it is full and enveloping, with well-integrated tannins, pleasant spiciness, and a lingering finish.
Perfect paired with flavorful mountain cuisine, game, grilled red meats, and matured or slightly spicy cheeses.
