Description

What kind of wine is it?

Pinot Noir Adler von Klausen is a still red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in Alto Adige, in the Isarco Valley. Its dry and structured style offers pronounced freshness and maintains precision and balance on the palate. Fermentation takes place on the skins in steel vats, followed by malolactic fermentation and aging on fine lees in large wooden barrels. The result is a glass of wine with a soft and dynamic profile, marked by well-measured tannins and good persistence on the palate.

Where does it come from?

The grapes are sourced from the hillsides of the Isarco Valley in Alto Adige, at an altitude between 420 and 750 meters, with a southern and south-eastern exposure. These elevations allow for gradual ripening, which preserves the cluster’s natural acidity and aromatic definition. The bright exposures favor the full development of phenolic maturity. The alluvial soils, rich in porphyritic sediments and dolomitic limestone deposits, impart tension and complexity. In this unique terroir, Pinot Noir expresses a clear and balanced character.

How is it produced?

After harvest, there is a traditional maceration on the skins in steel at controlled temperature to optimize color extraction. Once the alcoholic fermentation has finished, malolactic fermentation takes place, which helps to harmonize the acidity and stabilize the taste. The wine then matures in large wooden barrels on its fine lees, enriching its depth without ever overpowering the grape's freshness, resulting in balanced tannins within a well-composed flavor profile.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it exhibits a brilliant ruby red color with excellent brightness. On the nose, it presents an intense, clean bouquet consistent with the grape variety, revealing an overall velvety and well-defined impression. On the palate, it is dry, full-bodied, and enlivened by a very pleasant tangy note that prolongs the aromatic finish. Its orderly structure is supported by balanced tannins and marked freshness, ensuring a crisp, precise, and highly drinkable finish.

Food pairings

At the table, this wine naturally complements game meats, spit-roasted meats, and stews, thanks to the solid combination of body, measured tannins, and lively acidity. Its flavor profile also harmonizes well with spicy cheeses, balancing structure and freshness. Perfectly matched to Alto Adige cuisine, it particularly enhances slow-cooked dishes, such as venison stew, with its aromatic notes supported by the wine’s persistent finish.

When to serve it

Its innate versatility makes it suitable for lunches and dinners featuring roast meats, game, or slow-cooked dishes, where one seeks aromatic intensity that never overwhelms. Its freshness allows it to be enjoyed even in informal settings, as long as it is paired with flavorful dishes. Thanks to its solid structure and expertly managed tannins, it shows good aging potential, while still being enjoyable immediately. To highlight its aromatic precision, serving at a controlled temperature is recommended to preserve its harmony.
