Description

The Syrah Due Mondi is a red wine produced in the Valle del Belice, in the inland area of Trapani by the Sicilian winery Barone Montalto, located in Santa Ninfa, an area characterized by a strong cultural identity and a natural environment full of contrasts. Here, Barone Montalto interprets Syrah with an expressive style that reflects the Mediterranean soul of Sicily, enhancing the peculiarities of the clay-limestone soils rich in iron and organic substances.

The harvest takes place in mid-September with grapes picked at phenolic ripeness. The winemaking includes maceration in stainless steel for 12-15 days at 26°C with daily pump-overs. After racking, the wine ages for four months, partly in oak and partly in steel, with the aim of harmonizing structure and aromas while maintaining a well-defined varietal profile.

In the glass, it presents an intense violet-red color. The bouquet is marked by aromas of violets and blackcurrants, enriched by elegant notes of licorice and black pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with soft and well-integrated tannins, and closes with a pleasantly toasted and spicy finish, an expression of the wood aging and the character of the grape variety.

It pairs perfectly with aged cheeses, sautéed mushrooms, and game with flavorful sauces.
