Description
What kind of wine is it
Pietraforte by Tenuta Carobbio is a Tuscan red produced from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It displays a full structure and decisive character, with an elegant and clear style. Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel preserves freshness and develops a balanced character, making the wine suitable for good ageing.
Where it comes from
Produced in Panzano in Chianti, in the heart of Tuscany, Pietraforte originates from an area with a historic vocation for viticulture, benefiting from proximity to Florence and the Chianti tradition.
How it is made
The grapes undergo controlled fermentation for 10 days in stainless steel. This is followed by a long maceration on the skins for 21 days. After racking, the wine matures for 24 months in French oak barriques and continues ageing for a further 18 months in the bottle. This process gives depth and complexity to the tasting profile.
Tasting notes
On the eye, Pietraforte appears as an intense ruby red. The bouquet offers notes of blueberry, wild blackberry, spices such as black pepper, and a light hint of tobacco. On the palate, it is full and dry, with soft tannins well integrated and supported by good freshness. The finish is persistent, with lingering red fruit notes.
Food pairings
This wine pairs well with game dishes, grilled red meats, and roasts. Mature cheeses enhance its fruity and spicy notes. It also goes well with Tuscan cuisine, bringing out the balance between savouriness and structure.
When to serve it
Pietraforte is ready to drink in its early years, thanks to its polished tannins and balanced structure, but it also offers good potential for ageing over time. It is recommended to serve at an appropriate temperature, with possible decanting to fully appreciate its complexity and aromatic depth.
