Description
The Pievasciata rosso is a Tuscan wine from the young winery Vallepicciola, located in the area of Pievasciata, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, where it manages 105 hectares of vineyards following the principles of sustainable agriculture.
The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese grapes that are harvested in the third ten-day period of September and come mainly from the vineyards Val di Picciola, Casuccio and Mordese. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for about 10-15 days. Malolactic fermentation instead takes place in French oak barriques, where the wine also ages for 8-10 months. The wine then rests in bottle for 4-6 months before release.
In the glass, the wine appears deep ruby red with violet hues. The nose opens with aromas of dark fruits, plum, blueberry, with balsamic and spicy notes. The palate is full and well-structured.
Ideal with roast meats, for example pork loin with prunes, or with aged cheeses.
