Description

What kind of wine it is

Scabrezza by Marchesi Antinori is a white wine from Tuscany, made exclusively from Pinot Grigio grapes grown at Tenuta Monteloro. Vinification in stainless steel involves a short maceration on the skins, designed to express the typical copper hue of the grape variety and to maintain a fresh, balanced, and savory profile.

Where it comes from

This wine is born from the vineyards of Tenuta Monteloro, located in the hills of Fiesole in the province of Florence. The estate is part of the Antinori group and offers a white wine that highlights the identity of Pinot Grigio and provides a clear interpretation of the Tuscan terroir. The hillside origin and cellar choices contribute to a defined and linear expression.

How it is produced

The grapes are harvested in the early hours of the day, and after destemming, they undergo a short maceration to extract the copper color. Following a gentle pressing, the must is transferred to stainless steel tanks and cooled to 10 °C to promote natural clarification. After 48 hours, it is moved to other tanks, where fermentation takes place at a temperature not exceeding 16 °C; the wine then rests in steel at 10 °C until bottling.

Tasting notes

Visually, it shows a coppery hue, consistent with the brief maceration of Pinot Grigio. On the nose it is intense, with citrus notes of grapefruit combined with linden and pineapple aromas. On the palate, it is fresh, balanced, and savory, with a clean finish and a return of orange blossom in the aftertaste.

Food pairings

At the table, it naturally pairs with beef carpaccio, appetizers, and vegetarian cuisine. Its freshness and savoriness accompany delicate ingredients and light preparations, supporting the sip without overpowering flavors.

When to serve it

It is recommended when a white wine with a fresh and linear drinkability is desired, ideal to start the meal or accompany light courses. The citrus and floral profile, along with the typical copper hue of Pinot Grigio, make it enjoyable in convivial occasions where balance and palate-cleansing matter.
