Description
What kind of wine it is
Trentino Chardonnay Ritratti by La-Vis is a still white wine made from Chardonnay grapes grown on the Colline Avisiane in Trentino. Its profile features a rich palate texture with mineral freshness supporting its structure. Fermentation and ageing in French oak barriques add complexity and gentle spiciness, while maintaining an elegant and versatile style, also suitable for more structured dishes.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Colline Avisiane in the Pressano area, north of Trento, at an altitude between 270 and 330 metres. The south and southwest exposure ensures excellent sunlight and significant temperature fluctuations, encouraging even ripening and clear aromas. The deep, fertile, loamy-clay soils, with good drainage and vitality, support a balanced, intense profile with noticeable minerality.
How it is made
Harvesting is done by hand, with careful cluster selection to ensure integrity. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in French oak barriques, where the wine ages and develops structure and complexity. The integration of fruit, subtle toasted notes, and creamy texture comes from careful technical management, avoiding excessive oxidation to keep the wine clean and precise.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it displays a golden colour with green tinges. The nose reveals exotic fruit and citrus aromas, with elegant smoky nuances and hints of wood. On the palate, it is rich and mineral, with a soft entry, a full mid-palate, and sustained freshness. The finish is long, enveloping, and creamy, with citrusy returns and a savory note that invites another sip.
Food pairings
This Chardonnay pairs well with elaborate seafood dishes such as baked shellfish or turbot in sauce, and goes nicely with delicate white meats like free-range chicken or rabbit. Its structure and creaminess suit risottos, seafood or vegetable pastas, and medium-aged cheeses. Locally, it matches well with butter and sage canederli or river trout; among traditional dishes, creamed cod enhances its salty component and wood finesse.
When to serve it
Chardonnay is perfect for a foodie aperitif or at the table for those who seek balance, volume, and aromatic precision. Serve it chilled, around 10–12 °C, in a wide glass to enhance its fruity, smoky notes and creaminess. It can be enjoyed young for freshness, but the barrique structure supports good ageing potential: with proper storage, its profile becomes more complex and integrated within a few years.
