Venezia Giulia IGT Schioppettino 2013 Bressan
Description
The Schioppettino di Bressan originates in the area where the Collio Friulano leaves room for the valley of the Isonzo river, enclosed between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea.
It consists of pure Schioppettino grapes. It is an autochthonous variety, also known by the name of Ribolla Nera. The vineyards used are located in the province of Gorizia and are characterized by presenting poor soils in organic matter. The harvest takes place manually in the phase of slight over-ripening of the grapes, necessary to balance the freshness and the marked tannin. The vinification consists of a long maceration and fermentation phase in steel tanks, which then continues with aging in large 20 hl oak barrels for one year. Maturation ends in the bottle.
It presents itself in the glass with an intense but brilliant ruby red color. Its aroma is clearly fruity, with flavors of blueberry, blackberry and raspberry, inserted in a trail of musk and slightly balsamic wood. The sip is full, with an excellent body sculpted by freshness and tannin. Closes in a balanced and long finish.
Perfect to combine with a braised meat or first courses with meat sauces.
