Description

What kind of wine it is

Terra dei Ciliegi by Tommasi is a red wine from Verona made from a blend of Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, and Pelara grapes, sourced from the hills of Valpolicella Classica. It is vinified in steel tanks, with an initial phase of carbonic maceration and a short fermentation, designed to keep a fragrant and linear profile. The style is dry and smooth, with a light structure and a fruity character for easy drinking. Aging in steel completes a fresh and well-balanced red.

Where it comes from

The grapes for Terra dei Ciliegi come from San Pietro in Cariano, right in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, a hilly area surrounded by cherry trees. The area is part of the Verona region and stands out for its hillside vineyards, where the optimal exposure ensures steady ripening. The territorial character is reflected in a nimble red, focused on fruit and drinkability. The Verona denomination enhances the traditional blend and maintains an essential style.

How it is produced

Production includes a carbonic maceration lasting five days, followed by fermentation in steel tanks for six days. After racking, the wine remains in these same tanks, where it ages for four months. These winemaking choices aim to preserve the primary aromas and the purity of the taste profile. Minimizing oxidative influence keeps an immediate and soft expression in the final result.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it appears as a clear, bright ruby red, with a vibrancy reminiscent of a young wine. The nose is immediately fragrant and vinous, with inviting scents centered on strawberry and cherry, followed by raspberry, currant, and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it's dry and smooth, with a straightforward progression that highlights the wine’s great drinkability and clean fruit profile. The overall impression is always balanced, finishing in line with the aromatic profile.

Pairings

Terra dei Ciliegi is perfect alongside assorted cold cuts and pasta dishes with light sauces, where its smoothness supports the seasoning without overpowering. It also pairs easily with pizza and fresh cheeses, making the most of their flavors. This is a red designed for casual dining, ideal for simple dishes and convivial moments, as it combines the natural delicacy of fruit with a remarkable everyday gastronomic appeal.

When to serve it

This is a wine to choose when looking for a red of immediate drinkability, suitable for daily meals or a relaxed dinner with friends. Its fresh and fruity character makes it best enjoyed young, so its fragrance and clarity can be fully appreciated. It's easy to open for informal occasions, thanks to a smooth sip that fosters conversation and doesn’t require long aging before being enjoyed.
