Description
Quinta de S. Sebastião Reserva is a red wine produced in Portugal in the Lisbon region, from vineyards located in Arruda dos Vinhos, an area mainly characterized by hills exposed to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean. The Mediterranean climate with a strong Atlantic imprint allows for balanced ripening and preserves the freshness of the grapes. The clay-limestone soils contribute structure and complexity to the wine. It is made from a blend of Merlot, Touriga Nacional, and Syrah, varieties that together bring aromatic richness and elegance.
Vinification involves destemming and crushing the grapes with a mechanical press, followed by a prolonged maceration to encourage the extraction of color, tannins, and aromas. The wine then matures for about twelve months in French oak barrels, a refinement that enriches the aromatic profile and brings greater complexity and harmony to the structure.
In the glass it shows a deep garnet color. On the nose, notes of ripe fruit emerge, accompanied by delicate citrus blossom hints and spicy nuances. The toasted notes from aging in oak barrels blend harmoniously into the bouquet. On the palate it is intense and elegant, with well-present tannins supporting the structure and promising good evolution over time.
It pairs particularly well with red meats, cured meats, roasts, and rich traditional dishes.
