The history of Fontanafredda history is a love story from another era between the first king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II of Savoy and Rosa Vercellana, a woman of humble origins, to whom the king granted the title of Countess of Mirafiori and Fontanafredda, naming her two sons as heirs to the hunting estate that housed the Nebbiolo vineyards located in the Serralunga d’Alba area.
