Château Dauzac
Château Dauzac is a Grand Cru Classé from 1855 in the Margaux appellation, in Labarde, Médoc. The estate stands as a pioneer of technical and agricultural progress: it is credited with inventing the Bordeaux mixture, temperature control, and oak vats with transparent staves, and it continues to experiment to this day.
The property belongs to the Roulleau family, with Laurent Fortin at the helm since 2013. It covers 120 hectares, of which 49 are under vine in a single contiguous block near the Gironde estuary, surrounded by woods and meadows.
The vineyard, on a gravelly peyrosol-type complex, is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (28%) and Petit Verdot (2%). The wine ages for 14–16 months in barriques, 65–70% new, with a production of around 120,000 bottles.
Alongside the grand vin, noted for its great longevity, Aurore de Dauzac and Labastide Dauzac are produced. A member of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, Château Dauzac combines innovation with Margaux elegance.
