Pampero
Pampero is a rum produced in Venezuela by Industrias Pampero and now distributed by Montenegro. Industrias Pampero was founded in Caracas in 1938 by Alejandro Hernández and Luis Manuel Toro. Over the years, the artisanal production of Pampero rum gradually became industrialized. Improved production techniques led to the creation of extremely high-quality rums, characterized by a golden color and aged for at least 24 months. This change in Industrias Pampero's production methods resulted in a legislative adjustment throughout the state of Venezuela. A distillate could only be called "rum" if it had been aged for at least 24 months. Industrias Pampero has been synonymous with excellence for four generations; the values that have guided the company for almost a century are passion, quality, and constant technological innovation.
Rum Pampero
On Vino.com you can find a wide selection of Pampero Rums, such as the famous Pampero Aniversario, a blended rum aged for 5 years and characterized by a deep amber color. The aroma is dominated by sweet notes of citrus and coffee. The flavor profile is characterized by aromas of vanilla, walnuts, bitter orange, berries, and cocoa, while the texture is creamy and sweet. Pampero Aniversario Rum was created to celebrate the distillery's first 25 years, blending the finest rums from the Pampero Reserve and aging the blend in ex-whisky and ex-sherry barrels. Pampero Aniversario is a rum with remarkable aromatic complexity; hints of sherry, cinnamon, and brown sugar make it perfect for enjoying neat. It's also excellent as a base for Piña Colada, Cuba Libre, or Rum and Cola cocktails. Another important Pampero Rum is Selección 1938. This premium rum has a dark walnut color with ruby highlights. Its aroma is characterized by notes of wood and vanilla, along with hints of orange peel, figs, and dates. It's a very elegant and balanced rum, with a lingering vanilla finish. It's aged for five to six years in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon oak barrels. Selección is a blend of rums obtained from sugarcane from local plantations and can be enjoyed neat or as a base for cocktails. Selección 1938 is primarily enjoyed following the famous "Pampero ritual," paired with a slice of lime, brown sugar, and ground coffee. A well-known variation of the "Pampero ritual" is the rum tasting followed by pear juice, the famous Chupito Rum e Pera. The other popular Pampero rum is the Especial: a golden-colored blended rum, aged for two years. It's a light rum characterized by spicy notes and hints of coconut and honey. Finally, on Vino.com you can also find the Pampero Blanco: a very pale rum, suitable as a base for light, fruity cocktails. It's aged in ex-whisky white oak barrels and then filtered with activated charcoal, thus acquiring bright and luminous tones.
