Duca di Saragnano

The Duca di Saragnano line celebrates the bond of deep friendship between Luigi Barbanera and one of the Duke di Saragnano title’s last heirs. In his honour, Barbanera winery decided to give the company's historic line this name.

The line is composed of authentic and territorial wines that pay tribute to both Apulia and Tuscany, celebrating this great bond of friendship. Examples are the Puglia Appassimento (97 pts. Maroni), a soft and rightly tannic wine, or the Primitivo Alchymia (98 pts. Maroni), a 100% Primitivo that aims to represent the true essence of a territory, with a warm and enveloping bouquet of ripe red fruit, including cherry and sour cherry. A complex and structured wine with a velvety texture. Finally, the Sir Passo (98 pts. Maroni), a Toscana IGT born from the desire to experiment with new flavours, new aromas and new scents capable of surprising and astonishing from the very first taste.

This wine is a blend of native Apulian red berried grapes that undergo a slight drying on the plant in order to give greater softness and complexity to the final product.

It shows an intense ruby red color, with delicate purple reflections. The expression of the wine on the nose is complex, with hints of blackberry, cherry in alcohol, plum jam and sweet spices. In the mouth it is warm and soft, rightly tannic, with a finish of beautiful persistence.

Alchymia is a pure Primitivo which aims to represent the true essence of a territory.

It is produced with a controlled temperature fermentation in steel for 8-10 days. Malolactic fermentation and aging for 6 months in new Slavonian oak barrels follow.

Very intense and full ruby red, almost impenetrable. It offers a warm and enveloping bouquet of ripe red fruit to the nose, among which cherry and black cherry stand out. In the mouth it is a complex and structured wine, with a velvety consistency.
