Cultivated mainly in the province of Syracuse, Nero d'Avola is one of Sicily's most renowned grape varieties, giving rise to one of the world's most popular wines today. The high sugar content of this grape variety makes it a raw material for wines of great softness, body and structure, capable of sustaining long ageing periods that can extend beyond 10 years. Its characteristics meet the tastes of many people, making it a wine suitable for everyone.
Intense ruby red in colour tending towards violet, Nero d'Avola wines are characterised by hints of spices and black berry fruit ranging from liquorice to tobacco finished with slightly spicy notes. Its characteristics make it the ideal companion for roasted red meat, braised meats, game and mature cheeses.
