Casale del Giglio

Within the municipality of Aprilia, in the province of Latina, there is a reality of 160 hectares of vineyards, founded in 1967 by Berardino Santarelli. The interesting "Casale del Giglio" research and development project , carried out since 1985, involves the use of almost 60 different experimental vines such as Syrah, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon, Viognier and Petit Manseng, cultivated according to the methods and the Bordeaux, Australian and Californian wine models . In fact, the territory of the Agro Pontino which is not particularly suited to viticulture in these three different regions would be united by the influence of the coastal currents of the sea , in this case the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Therefore, the great classics of the company such as the Lazio Rosso IGT Mater Matuta , from the name of the Italic divinity of the aurora, were born in this perspective, a wine that in the 2014 vintage received the appreciation of the famous critic James Suckling obtaining 92 points . Produced with Syrah and Petit Verdot grapes, it is complex and rich in aromas, ranging from ripe fruit to more spicy notes of coffee and nutmeg.

Another interesting result was obtained by the Lazio Bianco IGT Faro della Guardia 2016 , obtaining the Three Glasses Gambero Rosso . A wine produced from pure Biancolella grapes which is of excellent flavor and minerality, complemented by fine citrus notes. Finally, Lazio Bianco IGT Satrico , a blend of elegant Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Trebbiano Giallo with a perfect balance between mineral and aromatic.
