Nikka Whiskey founder Masataka Taketsuru is considered to be the father of Japanese whiskey. This man had a dream, that of creating a whiskey distillery in Japan. Thus, as fans of the East travel to Japan to discover and learn the secrets of martial arts, as in one of Quentin Tarantino's best films, Nikka does the opposite: he moves to Scotland to learn the subtle art of whiskey making .
Masataka returns to Japan and, after years of intense practice and experimentation, founds his distillery on the island of Hokkaido, an area that recalls the exclusive climate of the Scottish lands and is the ideal place for the correct aging of whiskey. Single Malt Nikka are all peated whiskeys obtained according to the traditional method that Masataka learned in Scotland and which now survives almost only here. Fundamental is the careful care with which the barrels are selected and the experience of recreating different flavors with wisdom and flair that reflect the great imagination of a "visionary" like Masataka.
