Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most widespread vines in many regions of the world, appreciated everywhere thanks to its inimitable organoleptic properties. An international but demanding grape , Sauvignon Blanc needs an optimal climate for an excellent yield: fresh with sunny summers that allow perfect ripening of the grapes, and medium-low temperatures that give the wine its peculiar acidity.

Originally from the French region of Bordeaux , the reference area of this variety is the Loire Valley , in the prestigious appellations Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé , undisputed homelands of wines of unmistakable minerality and flavor. Among the other areas dedicated to the cultivation of Sauvignon Blanc, Friuli Venezia Giulia and South Tyrol in Italy, where it is vinified in steel, the American state of California, where Robert Mondavi gave birth to his legendary Fumé Blanc , and New Zealand , in the Marlborough area, where a complex and intense wine is produced, of which Cloudy Bay is the most illustrious interpreter.

The wine obtained from these grapes has fascinating and unmistakable characteristics, in which herbaceous and vegetable aromas of nettle and green pepper are recognized, with notes of exotic fruit such as lychee, pineapple and passion fruit. The famous hint of "cat pee" arouses curiosity: an unusual aroma that makes it a unique wine to love or hate, praised by many for its pleasant freshness, able to enhance vegetarian and cold dishes of these hot summer days .

Among the Italian companies we can mention Villa Russiz , a pioneer in the cultivation of Sauvignon on the Collio, where the "Ronco delle Mele" Sauvignon from Venica & Venica , Vie di Romans , which with its "Piere" has contributed to making known the the Isonzo region and Saint Michel Eppan , which has won the Tre Bicchieri del Gambero Rosso with its "Sanct Valentin" almost 20 times.
