An aromatic grape variety originally from Germany, Riesling is considered by wine enthusiasts and critics to be the most prized white grape variety in the world. The vine in fact gives rise to a wine with an extraordinary aromatic complement with hints of peach, apricot and varietal aromas of hydrocarbons, characterized by a marked freshness, which makes it one of the white wines with the greatest aging potential. The spiritual homeland of Riesling is the region between the Rhine and the lower Moselle, which includes the Mosel, Rheingau and Pfalz denominations. Another important production area is found in Alsace, a French region bordered by the western bank of the Rhine. In Italy the most suitable production areas are those of the Oltrepò Pavese from which light and fragrant wines are obtained, especially sparkling wines, but above all in Trentino Alto Adige (in particular in Valle Isarco and Valle Venosta).
