Description

What kind of wine it is

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva by Marsicana is a red wine produced in Abruzzo, made exclusively from Montepulciano grapes. It is characterized by a distinctive aromatic profile and a velvety structure so that this red wine faithfully expresses the peculiarities of its region of origin. The production process involves careful vinification and subsequent maturation in wood, granting the wine a perfect balance between ripe fruit notes and spicy nuances, resulting in a full and lingering tasting experience.

Where it comes from

This red wine comes from Abruzzo, a region with a strong agricultural vocation deeply connected to viticulture. The vineyards dedicated to Montepulciano cultivation are located in selected areas to enhance the bold and authentic character of the grapes. Harvest takes place in October, which allows the bunches to reach ideal ripeness. The strong bond with its territory is evident in the wine’s ability to reflect the identity of the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo designation and to enhance local enological expressions.

How it is produced

After the autumn harvest, the grapes are sent for fermentation and maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. This initial phase ensures the proper extraction of color and varietal aromas. Subsequently, the wine continues its journey and is aged for at least nine months in oak barrels. The prolonged rest in contact with wood allows for tannin integration and greater aromatic complexity, resulting in a harmonious and balanced taste profile.

Tasting notes

To the eye, it presents an intense ruby red color, crossed by vibrant violet highlights. The nose is rich and opens with clear aromas of ripe red fruit, accompanied by toasted notes of vanilla and cocoa from wood aging, along with elegant hints of spice. On the palate, it reveals a full and velvety texture, supported by a solid flavor structure. The finish is remarkably persistent, echoing the fruity and spicy sensations perceived on the nose.

Food pairings

Thanks to its structured texture, this red pairs perfectly with flavorful first courses rich in seasoning. It is particularly suitable for enhancing grilled meats or well-seasoned meat dishes, where the wine’s body and intensity optimally balance the succulence of the food. It also successfully accompanies boards of aged or semi-aged cheeses, creating a gustatory dialogue that equally enhances both the wine and the savory component of the dish.

When to serve it

This Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva is the right choice to accompany a complete meal, making it suitable for both informal gatherings and more formal dinners. Its enveloping glass and round sip make it ideal to pour when looking for an intense and deeply satisfying tasting experience. Served in the glass to allow its aromas to properly open up, it gives its best alongside flavorful dishes and confirms its nature as a wine with a solid and well-defined structure.
