Description

The Lagrein from Abbazia di Novacella is a red wine produced in the Bolzano area of Alto Adige from Lagrein grapes grown on alluvial silty-sandy soils with a porphyritic component. The vineyards are located on the plains and benefit from a favorable climate that allows for the creation of structured and elegant wines, an authentic expression of one of the region's most representative native grape varieties.

Vinification takes place in stainless steel with prolonged skin maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation and aging in oak barrels. This process allows the wine to develop structure, smoothness, and complexity, while maintaining a good balance between freshness and aromatic intensity.

Visually, it displays a color that ranges from ruby red to deep garnet red, with violet hues in its youth. The bouquet is intense and enveloping, with notes of violet, wild berries, and subtle musky undertones. On the palate, it is full and velvety, with significant structure and a persistent finish.

It pairs perfectly with rich dishes such as red meats, game, and mushroom-based preparations.
