Description
Amarone della Valpolicella Leòn from Ilatium Morini originates in the Illasi valley, in the province of Verona. The winery is based in Mezzane di Sotto. It is made from the classic blend of grapes from the area: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta, and Croatina.
The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then vinified with cold maceration and fermentation lasting 20–30 days, with frequent pump-overs. The wine ages in French and American oak barrels of various sizes for about 30 months.
Ruby red in color, it is intense and complex on the nose, with aromas of ripe cherry, nutmeg, cocoa, vanilla, and black pepper. The palate is warm and smooth, with elegant tannins and a persistent finish.
Excellent paired with baked pasta dishes, red meat, and roasted game.
