Description
What kind of wine it is
Barolo Bussia by Prunotto is a red wine with a pronounced character made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in Piedmont, in the renowned municipality of Monforte d’Alba. It is full-bodied with a firm structure, characterized by enveloping tannins and a clear aromatic profile. The winemaking process begins with stainless steel tanks, followed by a carefully measured oak maturation to provide a balanced style that faithfully reflects its terroir.
Where it comes from
This red wine comes to life in the Bussia vineyard, located within the Prunotto estate in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba in Piedmont. Its territorial identity is strongly defined by this specific geographical designation, from which the exclusive grapes are harvested. The decision to focus on a single area enhances the authentic expression of the varietal and provides clear recognizability in the glass, typical of this particular corner of the Cuneo region.
How it is produced
Harvesting involves a manual selection of grape bunches during the month of October. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks for fifteen days at a controlled temperature. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for eighteen months in oak barrels of various sizes, completing its elegant structural profile before final bottling in the cellar.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it boasts an elegant garnet red color, enhanced by bright and intense ruby highlights. The aromatic bouquet opens with clear hints of cherry and macerated wild strawberries, finely interwoven with delicate floral and spicy sensations. On the palate, it boasts impressive structure, supported by sweet and enveloping tannins that drive the tasting experience toward a long, consistent, and pleasantly deep finish.
Food pairings
This Piedmontese red is especially recommended for accompanying meat dishes and premium game. Its pronounced structure and tannic density best highlight the richest and tastiest culinary preparations. In addition, it’s a natural and perfect pairing with aged cheeses, where the aromatic intensity of the wine balances the dish’s texture. The contribution of oak ageing makes it ideal to enhance rich main courses.
When to serve it
It is the ideal choice when you want to bring a structured wine to the table that can accompany a hearty meal with personality and bold flavors. It’s perfect for important occasions where its long-lasting flavors can harmoniously match intense ingredients. The silky texture makes it an excellent companion for convivial moments, ensuring a solid tasting experience focused on a distinctive and stable profile over time.
