Description
What kind of wine it is
Tenuta Le Colonne Bolgheri is a red wine from the Bolgheri area, made from a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. It stands out for its structure and complexity, with a minerality that reflects its terroir. Fermentation takes place in cement vats with indigenous yeasts at a controlled temperature, while aging in French oak barrels integrates aromas and tannins, maintaining a full-bodied and bold profile. It is aimed at those who seek a red wine with authentic character and potential for evolution.
Where it comes from
Produced by Tenuta Le Colonne on the Tuscan coast, it comes from a setting of clay and stony soils. Based on the characteristics of the area and the soil, one can deduce that temperature variations contribute to balanced grape ripening, while the depth of the roots provides distinctive freshness and minerality. The Bolgheri area is renowned for red wines that clearly express the personality of the region.
How it is made
Fermentation takes place in cement tanks for about 13 days with indigenous yeasts at a controlled temperature. Aging continues for 12 months in French oak barrels, which enrich the wine without overpowering the fruit's freshness. A subsequent rest of at least 3 months in the bottle brings balance between structure and aromas.
Tasting notes
It appears deep ruby red with garnet highlights. On the nose, it offers ripe fruit such as blackberry and cherry, along with hints of violet. Maturation in oak adds nuances of vanilla, tobacco, and roasted coffee. On the palate, it is full and harmonious, with a long finish that highlights its structure.
Food pairing
This Bolgheri pairs well with braised red meats. It also works nicely with risotto with ragu or porcini mushrooms.
When to serve
Thanks to its structure and acidity, it can be enjoyed young or after the brief aging in bottle already described.
