Description
The Bourgogne Les Grandes Gouttes from Domaine Rougeot Père & Fils originates in a climat located in the southern part of Meursault, near Puligny-Montrachet. Although it falls under a regional designation, it reflects the influence and elegance of the prestigious surrounding terroirs, representing a true example of quality Burgundian Chardonnay.
The grapes are hand-picked and sorted at a sorting table in the vineyard. The whole clusters are not destemmed and are pneumatically pressed, followed by a cold débourbage for two days. The alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, only 5% of which are new. The wine ages in wood for 18 months before blending in steel, where it rests for a month prior to filtration and bottling.
It expresses with delicate aromas of acacia flowers, fresh almond, and citrus zest. On the palate, it reveals a round body, a silky texture, and well-integrated freshness that enhances its pleasantness, especially when served after a short decantation.
Perfect with shellfish, light preparations of white meats, or creamy cheeses.
