Description

This set pairs Brunello di Montalcino from Castello Banfi with a wine rack in natural wood and black-lacquered wood, featuring a distinctive diamond pattern designed to hold the bottles in crisscrossed balance, completed by a wooden box conceived for transport and gifting. The wine is a red made from Sangiovese grapes grown in Montalcino, noted for structure and complexity and showing a natural aptitude for bottle aging.

The grapes come from Montalcino, between the Orcia and Ombrone valleys, on well-exposed south-facing slopes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and French oak vats at controlled temperature; the wine then ages mostly in French oak casks and, for the remaining portion, in barriques of the same wood, for a minimum of two years before continuing its evolution in bottle.

In appearance it shows a deep ruby red color with subtle garnet highlights. The nose reveals red fruit preserves, cherry and plum, together with notes of licorice, pipe tobacco and delicate toasted nuances. On the palate, supple tannins meld with lively acidity within a full structure and a long, poised finish.

Pairs well with rich, flavorful dishes, grilled red meats and aged cheeses, as well as game preparations. Best enjoyed after adequate cellaring: even at an intermediate stage of maturation the wine shows good complexity, then reaching its fullest aromatic and tannic balance over time.
