Description
In this box with an entirely Tuscan soul it is possible to find the Brunello di Montalcino from Fattoria dei Barbi, emblem of the winery and first distinctive feature. It ages for 2 years in barrels of increasing capacity. In the glass it shows a brilliant ruby red color. It has a characteristic spicy scent of pink pepper that compares with a rich aromatic range based on aromatic herbs, plum, blueberry and touches of rhubarb. The taste is structured and persistent, with fleshy tannins that can almost be chewed, complemented by an adequate freshness. Excellent to combine with stewed red meats or game, it enhances tasty and well-seasoned hard cheeses.
Chianti is a traditional Tuscan wine that the Colombini family has been producing for a century now. Montalcino is in fact found in the wider Chianti denomination, however this interpretation expresses an austerity and elegance that lead it back to the most typical style of Montalcino. A young wine but also a classic that shines in the glass of a vivid ruby red. The nose is intensely vinous with hints of red berries. The taste is harmonious and dry, savory and slightly tannic. A label to be served in the company of traditional Tuscan dishes: from croutons to Colonnata lard, from tripe to Florentine steak.
Finally, Morellino di Scansano is a wine born in Maremma, more precisely from the vineyards of the Aquilaia dei Barbi estate, mainly produced with Sangiovese grapes, which locally takes the name of Morellino, and with small additions of Merlot. It is a wine that is modern and captivating while retaining its ancient roots. Ruby with purple hues the color, begins on the nose with notes of red fruits and ripe cherry and then develops memories of myrtle and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate it is a warm and savory wine, with well integrated tannins and notes of green tobacco in the aftertaste. Ideal to combine with tasty meat dishes, roasts, wild boar "scottiglie" typical of Mediterranean cuisine; nor does it disdain fish soups and particularly savory aged cheeses.
