Description
Valentin Leflaive's Champagne Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Verzenay is made from Pinot Noir grapes sourced exclusively from the village of Verzenay, in the Montagne de Reims; the vineyards, located at around 160 meters above sea level on silty soils with a limestone base and northern exposure, lend the wine precision, freshness, and a strong sense of place.
The harvest is carried out by hand with a fractional pressing process that allows selection of the finest parts of the must; fermentation takes place in both steel and oak barrels, followed by a long aging on the lees which helps to develop complexity, structure, and balance.
The wine displays a slightly golden color; on the nose, it is fine and delicate, with notes of small red fruits accompanied by hints of sweet almond and hazelnut; on the palate, it is precise and linear, with a pleasant freshness and a subtle bitter note that gives drive and persistence.
Perfect paired with refined dishes and flavorful preparations such as white meats and aged cheeses.
