Description

The Cristal 2016 by Louis Roederer is an iconic Champagne, produced in a vintage characterized by extreme climatic variations. After a cool and humid spring, the summer was warm and dry, with a heatwave at the end of August followed by dry conditions during the harvest. These conditions favored a balanced ripening of the grapes, with intensely fruity and structured Pinot noir and classic, chiseled, saline Chardonnay. The grapes come from 32 selected plots in the prestigious crus of Verzenay, Verzy, Beaumont-sur-Vesle, Ay, Avize, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Cramant.

The cuvée is composed of Pinot noir and Chardonnay, with part of the wines aged in wood without malolactic fermentation. During the "sur lattes" aging, a magnificent, slow and fine effervescence developed, enhancing the purity and aromatic precision.

On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet of white flowers, roasted citrus, and ripe yellow fruits such as peach and mirabelle plum, enriched by iodide and smoky nuances. On the palate, it is immediate and enveloping, with concentration and juiciness from the great Pinot noirs of the vintage. The texture is silky, and the chalky freshness of the Chardonnay emerges with notes of oyster shell and a soft, caressing, and savory texture. The finish is long, crystalline, and refined, with an iodized and mineral sensation that expresses the essence of the terroir.

This Champagne is an ideal pairing for high gastronomy dishes, such as oysters, shellfish, or white meats in sauce, enhancing the elegance and complexity of the flavors. Perfect for moments of celebration or to be appreciated in its uniqueness and perfection.
