Description
The Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna Barbischio by Maurizio Alongi originates from the Poggio di Barbischio and Sabbie di Barbischio vineyards, located in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. This wine is the result of a skilful blend of Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera, and Canaiolo, which authentically expresses the character of the Chianti territory.
The grape harvest is done by hand with careful selection of the grapes in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with a skin-contact maceration without stems at a controlled temperature of up to 28°C and manual pump-overs for 18 days. After racking and a gentle pressing, the wine ages for over a year in new and used French oak tonneaux, followed by at least 18 months of rest in the bottle.
With an intense ruby red color, it opens on the nose with elegant notes of ripe red fruits, violet, and light spicy nuances. On the palate, it is harmonious and structured, with fine tannins and excellent freshness that accompanies a long and enveloping finish.
It pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, game, and aged cheeses.
