Description

The Merlot from Tenuta Villanova is a red wine made from 100% Merlot grapes grown in the hillside vineyards of the Collio area, in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The soils, of Eocene origin and rich in "ponca", favor the balance between power and finesse of the wine. Harvesting is done manually to ensure careful selection of the grape clusters.

Vinification involves a long aging in oak barrels and tonneaux for a period of 24 months, followed by a further nine months of rest in the bottle. This long maturation process allows the wine to develop an elegant structure and a complex aromatic bouquet.

The color is intense ruby red. The nose perceives rich and fragrant aromas of black cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry, which are complemented by spicy notes with evolution. On the palate, it is warm, full, and savory, with soft tannins and good persistence.

It is recommended to accompany red meats, roasts, oven-braised dishes, and aged cheeses.
