Description

Bin 169 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon by Penfolds is an Australian red wine designed to highlight the Coonawarra region and the elegance of a contemporary style. The wine expresses Penfolds' historical connection with this area, famous for its red soils and for Cabernet Sauvignons renowned for their precision, freshness and finesse.

The winemaking process aims to preserve the varietal character of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the expression of the terroir. Aging takes place for about sixteen months in mostly new French oak barrels, with the wood providing more structure than aroma, supporting the wine’s texture without overshadowing the purity of the fruit.

In the glass, it displays a bright cherry-red color with a dark magenta core. On the nose it is youthful and initially reserved, then reveals notes of blueberry, red cherry, pomegranate, licorice, graphite, black olive, thyme, pink peppercorn, marjoram and subtle tones of sandalwood; on the palate it is medium-bodied, taut and linear, offering hints of redcurrant, mulberry leaf, fig, red plum, graphite and fine, chalky tannins.

It pairs perfectly with roast rack of lamb, herb-crusted veal or duck with a red fruit reduction, enhancing its finesse and gustatory tension.
