Description

What kind of wine it is

Costa d’Amalfi Rosato from Tenuta San Francesco is a rosé wine created from a blend of Aglianico and Piedirosso, cultivated with dedication in the territory of Tramonti. This expression from the Amalfi Coast is vinified and aged in steel tanks to preserve the original fragrance of its aromas. Before reaching the glass, the wine briefly rests in the bottle to achieve the right stability. The final result offers a fresh and harmonious style, characterized by pronounced savoriness and enjoyable drinkability.

Where it comes from

The grapes grow in the vineyards of Tramonti, which are spread over steeply sloping terraces typical of the Amalfi Coast. The parcels extend between 300 and 600 meters above sea level, where the vines are cultivated using a combination of traditional pergola and espalier systems. In this area, the altitude and the local ventilation ensure a cool and breezy climate, with considerable temperature differences between day and night. These environmental conditions are fundamental for giving the wine an elegant profile and lively acidity.

How it is produced

Harvesting takes place during the second decade of October, the ideal moment for picking Aglianico and Piedirosso. The subsequent vinification in steel is aimed at preserving the primary aromas and varietal identity of the grapes. At the end of fermentation, the wine continues its journey with several months’ aging in the same containers, stabilizing its flavor profile. Finally, a further and brief rest in the bottle allows all the components to blend before release.

Tasting notes

In the glass, this rosé displays a delicate pale pink color with a clear and bright character. The aromatic bouquet reveals itself gently, with clear fruity hints of raspberry and wild strawberries, well integrated with floral notes of rose and a subtle spicy touch. On the palate, it shows a harmonious structure and smooth sip, energized by a pleasantly savory note that extends the finish. The ending remains balanced and consistent with what is perceived on the nose.

Food pairings

This wine proves to be the perfect match for appetizers and seafood dishes, thanks to its vibrancy, which enhances the ingredients without overpowering them. Its measured fruitiness and salty character make it particularly suited to shellfish and fish recipes with light dressings. It pairs especially well with traditional scialatielli with seafood, as it respects the iodized aromas of the local recipe. It also pairs successfully with a fresh seafood salad, where the wine’s savoriness effectively cleanses the palate.

When to serve it

It’s the right choice when you are looking for a harmonious and balanced rosé, able to gracefully accompany a fish-based meal without weighing it down. Its delicate bouquet and effortless sip make it perfectly fit for convivial and informal moments at the table. Thanks to its balanced profile, it can also be offered with success as an aperitif glass to start the tasting. Served at a cool temperature, it will fully express the bouquet’s freshness and the cleanness of the finish.
