Description

What kind of wine is it

Barturot by Ca’ Viola is a Piedmontese red wine made exclusively from Dolcetto grapes. Classified as Dolcetto d’Alba, it stands out for its full body and high drinkability, featuring a fruity and floral aromatic profile. The vinification process uses indigenous yeasts with an aging phase in large barrels that results in a clean and linear balance. This technical approach enhances the primary qualities of the grape variety and prepares the palate for an easy, smooth sip.

Where does it come from

This red wine originates from a small plot within the Montelupo vineyard, located in the Dolcetto d’Alba wine region in Piedmont. The vines, which are up to 65 years old, sink their roots into a grey silty marl soil interspersed with yellow-reddish sands and sandstones. This specific geological composition helps provide structure and aromatic definition to the wine's profile and keeps the sip dynamic and well-defined by the distinctive character of the plot.

How is it produced

After harvest, the grapes begin a fermentation process that uses indigenous yeasts to honor the identity of the raw material. The must undergoes maceration in contact with the skins for fifteen days, a period aimed at extracting color and aromatic components. Subsequently, the wine matures for eight to ten months in large barrels. This stage supports the structural stability of the liquid and preserves its immediacy and fruit notes.

Tasting notes

In the glass, the wine displays a ruby red hue with subtle violet reflections. The aromatic profile opens with floral notes reminiscent of violet, evolving into fruity hints of currant and sour cherry. On the palate, it offers a consistent and smooth texture supported by a solid backbone. The tasting experience ends with a harmonious and persistent finish, dominated by return notes of dark fruit that echo the sensations perceived on the nose.

Food pairings

The aromatic and structural profile of this Piedmontese red makes it ideal to accompany braised meats. Its smooth character and intensely fruity finish also pair perfectly with grilled preparations and suit the most flavorful cuts of meat. It works in harmony with dishes that require a wine capable of cleansing the palate, preserving the sensations of violet aromas and dark fruit notes without overwhelming the taste of the ingredients.

When to serve it

This wine is particularly suitable for informal lunches or dinners centered on earthy dishes. Aging in wood provides a structural balance that enables you to enjoy the wine even when relatively young, thus preserving its fruit clarity. It is an ideal choice during barbecue season, as it offers a pleasantly persistent finish. Served at the proper temperature, it clearly expresses its floral character and enhances every convivial moment at the table.
