Description

What kind of wine is it

Viglioni by Simone Scaletta is a red wine made from Dolcetto grapes. This wine precisely expresses the essence of the Langhe and offers a vibrant, straightforward aromatic profile. Fermentation and aging take place in steel tanks to ensure remarkable cleanliness and expressive precision. It is a harmonious and linear interpretation, designed to keep the fruit's freshness intact and finishes with a balanced finale.

Where does it come from

This wine originates from the specific Viglioni vineyard, located in the renowned hilly area of the Langhe, in the south of Piedmont. The designation Dolcetto d’Alba identifies a production deeply rooted in this land, where the soil and climate conditions favor distinctive viticulture. The unique landscape contributes to a clear expression that delineates a territorial red with a measured and recognizable character.

How is it made

Production begins with a five-day skin maceration at a controlled temperature. Afterwards, both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation occur entirely in steel to preserve the clarity of the aromas. The wine then rests for nine months in the same material and is naturally clarified exclusively through rackings. Before release, it completes its journey with three months' rest in the bottle, without any filtration.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red color, enriched by clear violet highlights. The nose offers fresh aromas dominated by blueberry, merged with elegant nuances of violet and pleasant velvety hints of almond. The entry on the palate is harmonious and smooth, supported by a well-structured overall balance. The sip ends with a delicate almond note, in line with the grape’s characteristics.

Food pairings

Its pronounced fruity component makes it an ideal companion for vegetable appetizers and charcuterie boards. Its agility blends naturally with soups, legume-based minestrone, and risottos, as well as pairing effectively with beef or veal-based recipes. It enhances dishes by boosting their juicy component and offers a continuous and balanced drinkability that complements preparations without ever overwhelming them.

When to serve it

It is perfect for enhancing convivial occasions as it accompanies the entire meal with ease, starting from the appetizers. Thanks to its relaxed and clean profile, it is especially appreciated in everyday lunches or informal dinners. Its immediate impact and intrinsic freshness make it suitable for different types of menus and confirm it as a reliable, straightforwardly expressive red wine.
