What kind of wine is it
Ferghettina Brut is a Franciacorta born from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, cultivated on the hills of Adro in the Brescia area. The winemaking follows the Traditional Method, with a second fermentation in the bottle that gives the wine a fresh and elegant style. This Franciacorta focuses on aromatic purity and balance on the palate, thanks to a meticulous production process that starts with careful selection of the grapes.
Where it comes from
This wine comes to life on the hills of Adro, within the renowned Franciacorta appellation. The Brescia wine region provides the ideal geographical backdrop where the Ferghettina winery develops its enological identity. The connection to its territory is evident in a profile that combines finesse and drinkability, offering a faithful expression of the Lombard soil with remarkable continuity and character.
How it is produced
Production begins with an extremely gentle pressing of the whole clusters of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Only the free-run must, the highest quality portion from the first pressing, is extracted and sent to the fermentation tank. The wine rests until the following spring before being bottled for secondary fermentation following the Traditional Method. Next is a 24-month lees aging, essential for creating a balanced aromatic profile and fine bubbles.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it displays a straw yellow color and a fine, persistent perlage. The bouquet is neat and clear, with hints of hazelnut and delicate sweet fruit notes. On the palate, these aromas are perfectly mirrored, delivering a sip sustained by a delightful freshness that lingers through to a balanced and clean finish.
Food pairings
This Franciacorta pairs harmoniously with delicate first courses and fish main dishes, enhancing preparations with subtle aromatic notes. It is particularly suitable for raw fish and shellfish, where the wine's freshness balances out the sweetness of the meat. Its elegant profile is a perfect match for seafood risotto or seafood spaghetti, as it keeps the palate refreshed alongside quick-cooked dishes.
When to serve it
Thanks to its refreshing character and fine bubbles, it's an ideal Franciacorta for serving throughout the meal during convivial occasions. It proves a reliable choice right from the start of dinner, maintaining its expressive quality through the main courses. The prolonged lees aging ensures a well-defined style, perfect when seeking a wine that combines aromatic elegance with a revitalizing finish.
