Description
What kind of wine is it
The Meursault by Louis Jadot is a still white wine produced in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. Made from a single grape variety, Chardonnay, it fully expresses the characteristics of its terroir. Fermentation in oak barriques and a long ageing period before bottling define a full and rounded style. Freshness and a distinct mineral character complete its structure, making it ideal for formal occasions.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the village of Meursault located in the Côte de Beaune, an area renowned for structured white wines. The vineyards rest on gentle slopes positioned between 230 and 360 meters above sea level, where an optimal southeast exposure encourages regular grape ripening. The limestone soils enriched with white marls are particularly well suited to the cultivation of this grape, imparting a precisely balanced palate between fruity richness and natural savoriness.
How it is produced
The grapes are picked by hand and gently pressed to maintain the finesse of the must. Fermentation takes place in oak barriques, with one third new wood used to enhance aromatic complexity. Afterwards, the wine ages for fifteen months before bottling. This technical approach ensures a perfect integration of the fruit component and the toasted notes, resulting in a glass of remarkable depth.
Tasting notes
On the eye, it displays a clear straw yellow hue. The nose reveals a bouquet focused on white-fleshed fruit, with evident notes of peach and apple merging with hints of hazelnut and butter against a mineral backdrop. The palate is full and rounded, balancing the mouthfeel with a lively zesty freshness. Tasting finishes with a long and creamy finish, enriched by consistent toasted nuances.
Food pairings
The perfect table pairings for this white are rich fish dishes and seafood preparations. Its significant flavour profile can match the intense tastes of seafood, while the natural acidity lifts each bite. It's also particularly suitable for a selection of creamy cheeses, enhancing the structure of the dish without overpowering it.
When to serve
Perfect for elevating formal lunches and dinners, as it supports elaborately textured dishes. Thanks to expert cellar work and time spent in wood, this wine delivers aromatic precision from the moment it is uncorked. In addition, its solid structure and lingering flavour allow it to evolve beautifully and maintain its balance over time for years after bottling.
