Description

What kind of wine is it

Viandante by Tenuta L’Impostino is a Montecucco red wine made from 100% Sangiovese, born in the Tuscan Maremma in the Grosseto province. The style is structured and balanced, with defined tannins and good aromatic complexity. Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel preserve the clarity of the fruit, while subsequent aging in wood refines the wine’s profile.

Where does it come from

The grapes come from the Alto Poggio vineyard, located in the hilly area of the Maremma. The soil is medium-textured, predominantly clayey with excellent structure, elements that support the taste profile and the progression on the palate. This combination leads the wine to a clear expression of Sangiovese, with defined fruit and a savory, tannic texture.

How it is made

Harvesting is done by hand to allow a first selection of the grape clusters, which is then repeated in the cellar. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks along with maceration on the skins. Malolactic fermentation begins spontaneously in large oak casks and in second-use barriques; this is followed by an extended aging in the same wood and then at least six months’ bottle maturation.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red color. On the nose, there is a multifaceted profile, recalling raspberry, currant, and blackberry, supported by spicy and balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is well-balanced, with a structured body and silky tannins that support the wine’s development; the finish remains coherent and persistent, in line with the aromatic complexity.

Food pairings

At the table, it pairs best with flavorful meat dishes capable of highlighting its tannins and structure. The recommended pairing is the traditional bistecca alla Fiorentina, ideal to support the wine’s intensity and persistence. It’s also suitable for Tuscan preparations such as pappardelle with wild boar ragù or roast beef, which echo both its fruit profile and spicy notes.

When to serve it

This is a riserva red perfect for convivial moments centered around hearty food, when balance, structure, and a persistent finish are sought. The bottle aging contributes to render the sip more harmonious and the tannins more refined. It is recommended when the menu features red meat and traditional Tuscan recipes, as it holds its presence through to the end of the meal.
