Description
What kind of wine is it
The Nebbiolo d'Alba Michet by Marchesi di Barolo is a red wine named after the eponymous Nebbiolo variety, characterized by small, loosely packed clusters. The reference to the Michet clone in its name immediately sets this label apart within the winery's range.
Where it comes from
The wine is made at Marchesi di Barolo and produced in accordance with the Nebbiolo d'Alba appellation regulations. This bond with the denomination—evident from the product’s very name—defines the wine’s identity and its belonging to the Piedmont area devoted to the cultivation of Nebbiolo.
How it's made
After destemming, the Nebbiolo grapes are vinified at controlled temperature in stainless steel vats, with a roughly eight-day maceration on the skins during which periodic pump-overs are carried out. Malolactic fermentation takes place in vitrified concrete tanks, while maturation continues in oak casks.
Tasting notes
It shows a ruby red color. On the nose it reveals scents of violet and raspberry, accompanied by a spicy hint of vanilla. The palate is warm and elegant, supported by supple tannins and a delicate oaky finish.
Food pairings
This wine pairs well with hearty platters of cured meats and cheeses, with first courses featuring meat sauces, and with roast meats, its structure and supple tannins offering a fine balance to boldly flavored dishes.
When to serve it
Thanks to its warm, elegant structure, it’s advisable to uncork this Nebbiolo d'Alba a little ahead of serving, allowing it to open up gradually. It suits lunches and dinners with a bold character and can accompany the entire meal, from starters to meat main courses.
