Description

This Tawny 20 Years Old Port from Quinta da Côrte is made from a selection of grapes from old vines with an average age of over 70 years, grown on schist soils typical of the Douro Valley in Portugal. The Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot, dry summers and low rainfall, contributes to the concentration and aromatic evolution of the wine, expressing all the richness of the terroir.

Vinification occurs in traditional granite "lagares" with foot treading, a method that allows for optimal extraction of color and structure. The aging takes place in 600-liter oak barrels ("pipas"), where the wine matures slowly for twenty years, developing complexity and depth.

In appearance, it presents an intense golden color with mahogany reflections. On the nose, it offers a complex and enveloping bouquet, with notes of currants, licorice, cinnamon, candied citrus peel, coffee, cashews, caramel, and walnut. On the palate, the texture is smooth and harmonious, with great breadth that evolves elegantly, revealing freshness, salinity, and a perfect balance with a rich and long finish.

It pairs perfectly with goat cheese on toasted bread, veal sweetbreads, or chicken tajine with confit lemons, and for dessert with chocolate and hazelnut cake or coffee cream pie.
